Using patent information to present scientific results of dissertations for academic degree

The article by Oleg Neretin, PhD in Economics, Director of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS), is to be published in the 8th (August) issue of the magazine "Intellectual Property" and is devoted to issues of patenting dissertation research results. The author proves the importance of patenting for the system of state certification of the academic staff. The author highlights the potential of patent information for addressing vital issues related to quantitative performance rate of publication activity. The article also covers the analysis of dissertation compliance with the requirements of the Degree Regulations, i.e. for novelty evaluation of obtained scientific results, their practical importance and the level of dissertation research results presentation to the professional community. This meets the task on forming competences related to intellectual property in the system of training of academic personnel.
