Registration of Computer Programs, Databases,  Topographies of Integrated Circuits

In 2001 the number of officially registered rights continued its steadily (about 30%) growing which took place during previous 3 years.

In 2001 the number of computer programs, data bases and topographies of integrated circuits has increased by 35,7 % versus the year 2000. The total number of applications for registration (2064) were filed from 62 subjects of the Russian Federation grouped into seven Federal Districts. The biggest number (1147) of applications was filed from the Central District, and the lowest number (55) of applications was filed from the Far-Eastern District. 29 applications were filed by the foreign applicants, and 5 applications were filed jointly with Russian rightholders. The decrease (21,5%) in number of applications for the complete assignment of the all property rights and applications for transfer of property rights can be explained by abolishment of tax privileges related to the acquisition of copyright after entering into force of the RU Tax Code. Since 2001 a set of materials, assisting the process of drafting and filing an application (including the application form, Recommendations for application drafting, fees payment, etc.) is available by e-mail in reply to the prospective applicant’s request.
