Extension of the terms of validity for Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs)

The possibility to extend the patent term for specific pharmaceutical and plant products was introduced into Russian legislation in 2003 and incorporated into Part IV of the Civil Code, however in practice this option has not bee extensively used.

The objective of this fifth component is to support the development of the approach to treating requests for Supplementary Protection Certificates in Russia, drawing upon European experience, and practice.
